Interlaced grew from my observation of a wisteria vine. I watched it search for support—extending its tendrils into space, wrapping itself around a fence, and gradually becoming inseparable from it.

The sculpture follows this movement of searching, attachment, and mutual transformation. Vine and supporting structure appear to melt into one another, until it becomes difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Woven on the loom and sculpted by hand from hand-spun paper yarn, sisal, and raffia, Interlaced explores interdependence and adaptation through the meeting of organic growth and human-made structure.
