Documentation: Oya Damla

The first interaction with mud found the shape during my childhood experience when the world was populated by animated, magical things. Those intimate interactions with the mud occurred at the volcanos of dirt in Crimea, Ukraine. Pulsating, bubbling and mushy mud alludes to undifferentiated formlessness of matter, provokes memories of being plunged, absorbed, covered by this formless mass. I face myself interacting with the mud as human animal playing with the possibilities of bodily extensions, welcoming both pleasure and disgust.
